In the remaining part of this practical we consider one of the more commonly used physiological solutions, the phosphate-bufferred Krebs-Ringer solution. When preparing Krebs-Ringer solutions it is common practice to prepare stock solutions of the appropriate chemicals which can then be mixed together to produce the final solution. The following table shows the stock solutions frequently used for making up phosphate-buffered Krebs-Ringer solution.

Solution 1 0.90% NaCl
Solution 2 1.15% KCl
Solution 3 1.22% CaCl2
Solution 4 3.82% MgSO4.7H2O
Solution 5 0.1 M phosphate buffer
