One such solution is the Krebs-Ringer
solution. It is named after two famous scientists: Sydney Ringer,
a physiologist whose work in the late 1800's on the isolated frog
heart pioneered much of what we know today about physiological media,
and Hans Krebs a biochemist who subsequently modified and
improved Ringer's original solutions and who is today best known
for his classical work on the tricarboxylic acid cycle.
